Pastor/Dr. David Murphy continues from his prior sermon in verse 5 to show us the reasons that we needed to die to the Law. #3- Because of the failure of the Law, in that it energizes our sin nature to do wrong, and #4- because man's condition before he was saved produces fruit unto death and not fruit unto God. We'll then go to verse 6, where we'll see a 5th reason we had to be free from the Law is to produce fruit unto God. This deliverance is a 1-present reality, 2-a supernatural work, and 3-has a divine purpose to serve God with a new spirit and in newness of life. We are delivered 1- from under the condemnation of the Law, 2-from our own futile attempt to justify ourselves by our own good deeds and works, 3-from our attempt to achieve satisfaction through obedience to the Law, and 4-from the arousal of sin that formerly controlled our lives.
