Let me share something personal with you. I've had my fair share of struggles, especially when trying to make sense of those complex textbook readings. Have you ever faced challenges in your academic or professional journey? We all have unique hurdles to overcome.
Now, imagine a different kind of challenge – losing hearing in one ear and becoming blind in both eyes. What would you do if you were a student or professional in that situation? Would you give up, make excuses, or choose to press on, no matter the obstacles?
Enter my incredible source of inspiration, Jordan Puente. We crossed paths during the Spring 2022 semester at California State University, Northridge. Jordan's journey began at just eight months old when he lost both his hearing and vision. Since then, his unwavering perseverance, resilience, and indomitable spirit, along with the support of his family and friends, have propelled him towards an impressive list of accomplishments and a Bachelor's degree.
Feeling disheartened, thinking academia is too tough, or believing you lack support? Jordan's story is the ultimate motivation to keep moving forward towards your goals and aspirations. He's been cancer-free for 26 years, having been diagnosed with leukemia at just eight months old, requiring a life-saving bone marrow transplant.
For 24 years, he showcased his talent with a two-year stint hosting his radio show at Mt. Sac before the pandemic interrupted his journey. Undeterred, Jordan now calls CSUN home, serving as the Sports Editor for the Daily Sundial, where he's pursuing a major in Communications Studies with a concentration in Journalism. Not only that, he's a passionate sports fan and a podcasting enthusiast!
Join us in this podcast episode as we explore Jordan's extraordinary journey and draw inspiration from his unwavering determination. It's a testament to the power of the human spirit and a reminder that no challenge is insurmountable. So, when times get tough, remember Jordan's story and keep forging ahead towards your dreams!
