As Americans we often are oblivious to the social, economic, political and personal differences between people who have had generations born and raised here and people how have not.
In high school one of the most amazing experiences was seeing the different cultures embraced as we all came together. Seeing tears in the eyes of someone when they hear the National Anthem or see the American flag because of what it means to that person and how thankful that they have an opportunity to thrive here.
I thought it would be best to start the series off with the most outgoing, funny, smart and driven person I know who's family came here to improve their life.
There is absolutely no one better for this than my long time friend Yuriy Kalustyan.
