For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. Galatians 5:13
I wanted to start this episode off with a quote from a popular book… the Bible. I am not a religious man but I think we can take SOME of the lessons from the Bible and apply them to how we as a community should look at situations. Flipping tables, helping the homeless, loving your neighbor, not being hypocritical when we can avoid it and most importantly walking in love.
I am joined today by a man who has inspired many including myself. Others are naturally drawn towards him and it is not hard to tell why once you meet him. I would like to introduce my mentor, friend, brother, confidant, and a childhood hero I did not know I had until I met him. Alan Hernandez. When I speak of violence, I often talk openly of it with a positive attitude because violence is a tool to be employed by those of us who are comfortable with it and have a good moral compass.
Alan has brought violence to the doorstep of those who would throw you off the top of a building you for being gay, bomb your church and call it a religious act and belittle you for being a woman. He is a lover, a father, a warrior, a U.S. army ranger, and someone to be thanked not only for their service but also their sacrifice even though he will brush it off and say it was no big deal.
As always I can be reached on the Eddie Lowery Off The Deep End Podcast Facebook Page or on Instagram @thisiseddielowery your thoughts, feelings and feedback are vital to the self improvement journey I am on.
Thank you for listening and as always listener discretion is advised since we will be talking about war, veteran suicide, gun related instances, school shootings and other topics that can and will trigger some dark thoughts in some.
If you are hurting please reach out to myself or the hotlines posted in the description. Don’t pass the pain to those around you who care. You are worth it.
