It is a well known fact that necessity is the mother of invention, and it would seem that this is a premise that Kate Davis embodies very well. This talented woman has lived all of her life in Ballarat but has been amazingly successful in finding opportunities and making the most of them. From a young age, through working at UFS dispensary, she was given an opportunity to take on a management role in their affiliate gift shop ‘Cherub Cards and Gifts’. This store allowed her to develop her retail knowledge and build networks with other local retailers helping to discover her love of event management and coordination through shared charitable event endeavours. Whilst on maternity leave from UFS Kate completed an Event Management course in Sydney and realised that her time in retail was done. Fast forward through years of development including the challenge of coordinating Ballarat’s first Beer Festival, Event Management at Avoca Turf Club, Spring Fest, the Board of Visit Ballarat, and even the development and coordination of the short lived dating platform Let’s Woo, to today, where Kate is now well known for the development of Eat, Drink, West and Plate Up Ballarat, an event that allows local Ballarat businesses to showcase their talents in food production and creativity. In everything she is involved in Kate commits, wholeheartedly, digging deep to learn all she can about her subject to ensure the best foundation to develop success upon! Her drive and determination are second to none and are obvious in every event she puts her name to.
