Episode 139

In this Episode I get to share a conversation with Dr. Carrie Johansson, author of Self Help On The Go. Listen as she discusses her journey of not being enough to that of fulfillment and helping others find their worth.

Her journey began as the underdog in much of her life, especially financially, being the poor kid at the rich school, only person in her group who had to work throughout college, etc. This pattern made her feel like she was constantly behind, believing everyone around had had gotten a course that she wasn't allowed into.

Moving from feeling less than to accepting and working with her unique
constellation of strengths and weaknesses, challenges and gifts has enabled her to discover how to lead an incredible life through the concept of psychological flexibility!

Psychological flexibility is being present, working with the reality that
you have, and deciding what your next best move is. This  is acknowledging and working with your emotions, but doing a more factual assessment, less judgmental assessment of the reality that you actually have.

This isn’t looking at the reality you want, but that which you actually
have and how to take a look at what's most important to you, what are your options?

How would you like to proceed? And sometimes, and this is a really
fascinating idea, sometimes the answer is I don't know yet.

Dr. Carrie is a psychologist turned speaker and author. Her approach
builds on proven psychological principles and easy to implement strategies for managing emotions, communicating well, and creating the type of life you want.
