Talk Synopsis: After 20+ years of a presence in the professional world, UX is still misunderstood and misdefined by many. True success and the ability to provide value to our organizations requires a sound foundation and the ability to properly define user experience. In the spirit of these points, this talk with provide a reliable definition of UX and cover the four main pillars of the discipline: Usability and heuristics, information architecture, UX research, and interaction and interface design.
Darren is extremely passionate about all things UX, holding 20+ years of experience in human-computer interaction and interaction design, with the last 16+ years working full-time in the world of UX. Darren’s professional footprint spans such organizations as Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Bosch, Ryder, United Wholesale Mortgage, Quicken Loans, Cengage Learning, and USA Networks, to name a few. He serves as an adjunct professor for Kent State University’s UX Design Master’s program (Kent, Ohio USA), as an adjunct at Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, Michigan (USA), and leads UX workshops at Grand Circus in Detroit, Michigan (USA).
