Where Ever You Go by Curtis P.

My father and mother made our family move about 45 minutes away from my old school

and all of my friends. I do miss my old friends, my old house, and even my old school. It was a

really hard change to go through especially because I was a junior in high school. My first

couple of days at North Star High School were absolutely crazy. The people in this school were

nothing like my old school and the school itself was completely different than anything that I’ve

ever experienced.

I only knew one student from North Star and I never met the person. The only reason I

knew of him was because my dad worked with his mom. His name was Connor and we became

close friends almost instantly. He would help me get to class and just tell me stuff about the new

school. He was a senior so he wasn’t in all of my classes so I tried to talk to people myself, but

all the people I talked to were really weird or just weren’t my type of friends.

I still only talked to a handful of kids but then it changed out of nowhere because

basketball season started. Once the sport started, I began talking to the guys on the team. They

all were very welcoming and it made me feel good about being on the team and coming to the

new school. The people that stood out the most and actually helped me in school like finding

stuff, getting to classes, and even meeting new people, are still my close friends. Their names

are Hunter S, Noah S, Drew L, and Brock W. They made this school home for me. After meeting

all of the guys and hanging out with them we all became really good friends. I met two more

people from hanging out with the basketball guys. Their names were Smeak and Jimmy.

Through summer, we made a ton of new memories and had a good time going back to

school. It didn’t make me panic not once but it made me happy knowing that I’ll be able to see

everyone that I know and even meet new people. Once we got back into school I started to look

for new people to talk to and made a few friends by myself. Before I knew it we were getting

ready to announce homecoming court candidates. I have no idea how but I managed to get onto

homecoming court but when my name was announced I felt like I belonged in this school and

the students were my family members. There are good people in this world. You just have to

work to find them.
