Laugh Every Day by David M.
In my life, I've been through a lot, but I always find a way to add humor to my
pain. If someone makes fun of me, I laugh with them. My birth family neglected my
brothers and sister and never fed us, but I remember some funny moments there, like
when my brother jumped out the window thinking he's Spiderman. We still laugh about
that today. When my brother, Nick, was 15, he was sent to this detention center and I
was diagnosed with depression shortly after his departure. I spent a solid year in my
room and would go to his place and we would go out to eat and we would laugh and
have fun, but I always felt sad when I got home, even if my mom said we would see him
next week on the weekend. It was like that until the Covid hit. I was never able to see
him in person but we got to do zoom meetings that made me happy.
My birth siblings were separated from me and Nick, so I have arranged a thing to go visit
them every year. We party and have fun. We laugh and it is such a great time. My mom
used to have a pool when I was growing up and my brothers and I would play in the pool
it was fun we would have competitions to see who could hold their breath the longest
(hint: I lost.) Then we would see who had the biggest cannonball splash. I remember my
brother's family coming over and we had so much fun. We would stay in the pool all day
then it rusted and we got rid of the pool. My dad and I built a patio and bought a hot tub
for my mom's birthday.
I had a lot of friends through school that were all good friends of mine, but they
moved away. But Dajon was my best friend. I spent the weekends at his house and we
went trick or treating. He was very funny. He would jump into lockers and fall into
garbage bins. I would laugh so hard I miss him, but we still talk and play video games
and talk on Snap Chat. I'll go visit him before I move.
In life, there will be a lot of things in life that will hurt you physically and emotionally,
but I say add some humor to your days like a funny video or a joke. You should always
find some humor. It will make life a lot better. My core belief is to laugh every day
because it will help you stay positive and you will remain happy.
