This I Believe
My name is Drew and I believe that hard work does pay off. I believe that if you
put the work and time into accomplishing a goal anything can be accomplished. This is
one of the most important lessons I have learned in my lifetime. It has helped me
accomplish things that I never thought I would be able to. I think if other people believe
this other people will feel more motivated to accomplish their goals even when it feels
like the work is not paying off.
I learned this lesson through sports: The sport of basketball. Sports taught me
that if you put the work in good things will happen. All of the early mornings and long
days of practice finally paid off. I realized all the hard work paid off when my team won
the first district championship. I finally had something to show for all the practice that I
put in. We were even a top-eight team in the state that year.
The following year, we improved even more. We did just as good as the year
before and even better. Unfortunately, we couldn’t finish our season, but it still showed
me that with hard work you can improve on anything.
I think this is a good example of how working hard towards a goal will get you
the result that you want. It might not happen as quickly as you think but eventually, all the
time you spend working toward something will pay off. This is why I believe that hard
work actually does pay off and it isn’t just something that people say.
