This I Believe by Grace G.
I was watching TV and the Saint Vincent commercial came on,
I watched the whole thing and cried. Children will spend most of their lives in a hospital and never
know if they’re going to survive. They don’t get to do most of the normal things kids their
age get to do. That’s why I believe you should live life to the fullest because in a second
your life can change.
When a kid gets cancer, they will spend most of their lives in a hospital bed and
won’t get to do the things they want to do. The parents suffer too because they dedicate
all their time to supporting their kids when they need it. They spend most of their money
on hospital bills and can’t afford to do those things
When I go on vacations I always try to go skydiving. I love that you don’t know
what could happen. When you first get on the airplane, you are sitting on a stranger's
lap. The first time I went I was thinking to myself if the parachute doesn’t open then I’m
dead but if everything goes great then I will have the time of my life. When the pilots get
to the right height, they bring you out to the edge and say “jump on 3” but they push you
on 2. As we were about halfway down I realized that I was actually having fun. Then
when we landed I realized that the point of maximum danger is the point of minimum
fear. If I do anything fun it has to have a little dangerous because then I’m not living life to
the fullest.
The last time I went I convinced my mom and dad to go with me. My dad is fine
with heights but my mom is deathly afraid of them. As we went up my dad was relaxed
but my mom was cursing up a storm. They made my mom go first since she was the
most nervous. When we got down, I asked them how they liked it and my dad loved it,
but my mom dreaded it. She said her heart was racing the whole time but the view was
beautiful. bc
Now, every vacation we go on my dad and I have to go skydiving. If we don’t
then it was pointless. I don’t like sitting at the beach 24/7. I like to spend half the day at
the beach and the other half doing other things. Even if we don’t go to a beach, I’ll still
try to do exciting things like cliff jumping, climbing small mountains, bungy jumping, etc.
