I have been told I am hard to approach or talk to at first and other times I get told
I'm easy to approach. I would say I might look scary to some people because I am a
large person who is quiet. If you get to know me, I might just be the goofiest person
you have ever met.
I have always been scared to introduce people to my father because he comes
off a certain way when you first meet him because he has a bunch of tattoos
everywhere and just looks scary, but he is the biggest baby in the world. I've had people
tell me he is so different than what they would have thought he would be like.
I think we all tend to judge people by their appearances even though looks can
be deceiving. I have also been guilty of judging people based on how they look, but time
after time again, I get proved wrong from what I thought a person would be like based
on their appearance.
Sometimes, it's thinking this stranger is going to be hateful and disgusting but is
all rainbows and sunshine. Maybe you think the person is going to be rainbows and
sunshine, but behind your back, this person says awful, hateful things about you. It’s hard
to believe, but there are real people that actually do this. I have never encountered one
myself, but I have heard plenty about them.
Judging people on their looks is something we all do when someone is new in
your life. When I started my job, I did the same thing to everybody there, but a lot of
people from around here aren’t different from all of us. You might even have a couple of
people who have been in your life since you have been little.
I was teased all the time when I got my job, but then they got to know me and I
got to know them and they turned out not to be so bad because the thick skin I've had
all through my life helped me. When they give you a hard time, give it right back to them
and they figure out this new kid isn't just a little kid.
When people see a kid of my age, they think they have no work ethic, especially
at a job that requires quite a bit of labor. Sometimes they're right about it, but I have
been told by people there that I'm the only kid my age they have seen work hard.
We all tend to judge people on their looks but you're most likely always going to
be wrong when you do so.
