Steven Byford the Sainsbury’s Unite workplace rep and branch secretary is a Unite delegate to Workers Uniting. This is a trans-Atlantic trade union created in 2008 by a merger of Unite with the US based North American United Steelworkers. Byford describes how this international body works to create international solidarity and has had some encouraging successes.
