Hello friends in Jesus, welcome to the show 2 Minutes with the Lord
The Emmaus encounter between the two disciples and the Risen Lord is a heart transforming experience.
The disciples were sad and filled with remorse by the events that occurred a couple of days ago. They were moving out of Jerusalem to Emmaus. A stranger joins them on this journey. As they go on discussing, the events the stranger begins a conversation with them.
He explains the Scripture to them. This journey with all hope lost becomes a pilgrimage of faith. This conversation amidst loss and grief re-establishes their hope. The disciples felt as if the whole world was tumbling down and suddenly they receive a life-giving message. Who is this stranger? A scholar, a learned man, a member of the council.
The disciples recognize him in the Breaking of the Bread. Risen Jesus opens their mind and hearts to the truth. Surely, their hearts were burning when he spoke to them.
The Emmaus experience is a journey of faith. When we are at loss in life, feel sorrowful, when we have difficult hurdles and painful memories. When we feel hope is far away. The Risen Lord offers us a walk of faith. He walks beside us showing us the right path. We have to recognize him.
Lord we need an Emmaus journey in our life so that we can renew our faith commitment with you. Amen.
