Since our first visit with Alayna Contreras, the graduate of Hopkins found herself making a course correction after an ACL injury sidelined her from both AAU competition and her senior year of high school. Unable to play in front of scouts, Alayna utilized her connections and enrolled at Cochise College, a junior college in Arizona, to rebuild her ground game. Her persistence led to a spot at Missouri-Kansas City, an embodiment of her mission to play at Division One. Alayna relayed the journey to get back in playing form, attending a junior college far away from friends and family, and what other players can do if they find themselves in a similar situation.
