Lindsey Becher has a lengthy list of milestones in basketball. She holds the all-time scoring record at Mounds View High School, men or women. In her first year at Concordia University, Lindsey was named NSIC South Division Freshman of the Year and set a single-season school record in blocks (based on average). Last season, she finished third in all of Division II in blocks and became the first player in Concordia history to earn over 10 blocks in a game.
Simply put, Lindsey was balling, but her college career was obstructed by mental health struggles. She was prepared to step away from the game to take care of herself, but after a period of reflection, she decided to return for her junior season. In this conversation, Lindsey opens up about her mental health journey, her remedies whenever a sense of anxiety or dread creeps in, and how this experience has made her stronger as she moves forward. We also talk some basketball, including a few people who give Lindsey inspiration.
