Welcome back to another sermon from the series SERIOUSLY, where we dive deep into the words of Jesus from His renowned Sermon on the Mount. Pastor Mark Magee shares insights and challenges from Matthew 6:1-18, urging us to take Jesus' teachings seriously.
In today's text, Matthew 6:1, we're confronted with the concept of righteousness, both a position and a practice. Mark emphasizes that our righteousness is in Christ, declared by God when we were reconciled to Him. But it's also about living righteously, especially in our relationships with others.
Jesus warns against hypocrisy and emphasizes sincerity in our faith. He calls us to do good deeds, pray, and fast in secret, not for the applause of others but to please our Heavenly Father. Our motivation matters more than our actions.
As homework, Mark challenges us to give generously, pray sincerely using the pattern Jesus provided, and fast with specific intentions. He calls for a church-wide fast on April 9th, urging us to pray for provision, success for interns, and baptisms in 2024.
Join us as we embark on this journey of living by faith, following Jesus, and seeking to please our Heavenly Father. Like and subscribe for more insightful sermons and don't forget to join us in prayer and fasting on April 9th. Let's live by faith together!
