The Tumble Science Podcast for Kids has been leading the kids podcast industry since 2015 and has seen firsthand the exponential growth of podcasting for kids and families in the last quarter of the decade and has seen a much higher bump when stay-at-home measures were imposed worldwide as many parents have been seeking alternatives to video-based content and were finding entertainment that can help families gather around the stereo, just like in the golden age of radio.
I talk to Lindsay and Marshall of Tumble to get to know the origin story of the podcast, what it took to help the show gain an audience at a time when there were few podcasts for kids and families, and they reflect on how the show grew its audience when kids podcasts boomed in the last two years of the 2010s and how the pandemic created even more awareness on the show and others. I also speak about them venturing into creating a new media entity Tumble Media and expanding their horizons beyond their one podcast with a new show, Yoga Kids Adventure.
