| | The Longest Wait - An Asylum Journey | |
In Episode 132 of the #ReadswithRosaPodcast, I sit down to talanoa with Kiribati author, Grace James.
In her first podcast interview, Grace shares her book, ‘The Longest Wait’, based on her experiences as a detainee at an immigration detention center, in the US. She has not seen her family back in her homeland of Kiribati in almost 10 years, and she is still waiting for her court case as an asylum seeker to be over. The stories in her book do not belong to Grace alone. They also capture the voices of her fellow detainees, strangers who became friends, friends who became family.
Tune in to this week’s podcast, as Grace chats about the power of our choices, the daily routine when you’re locked up, her gratitude journal, therapy, and the healing process.
Grace is a survivor of domestic violence.
