On March 26th 1997 Santa Fe Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an anonymous welfare check call at a mansion in Rancho, Santa Fe. What they discovered there was the outcome of a several day process that resulted in 39 deaths. Among the largest mass suicides on American soil, that day the journey of the Heavens Gate society came to an end. A journey’s conclusion that for the departed may have been viewed as a voyage's beginning.
