Why do we think selfish is evil?
In the modern world when we call someone selfish we mean to say ‘evil, wicked, and you’re gonna go to hell’.
But let us be more critical. To be selfish (from a sociological perspective) is evil because what one does for only him or herself (which doesn’t benefit others) is anti-herd, anti-community, and anti-collective.
But us more spirited and wise philosophers know:
Selfishness (without inflicting physical violence upon others) is our greatest virtue.
