To build a firm foundation, find a teacher to follow for several years, to reprogram your program, and shift what you are doing. Movement of the mind and “what ifs” motivate karma. Old patterns and experiences can repeat themselves so to catch ourselves from the cycle of ignorance, we must learn how we create our suffering. You do this through self-realization, resulting in knowing all things. Ignorance is the main driver.
Maitri is the practice of learning by just being around a teacher. Focus on the vessel of the teacher, not the teaching. Call upon their name and ask for help. Ask them to go into the situation with you. What would your teacher do?
