In today’s reading of Tyndale’s OYCSB (with featured content written by the CBT team),
- If you listen to this podcast with your children, be aware that today’s reading includes instructions about marital intimacy. Although I will only briefly mention this subject, parental discretion is required today.
- Instructions for the protection of the community continue. One person’s germs may impact other covenant members negatively. Mildew exposes the community to these negative impacts. Also bodily fluids expose members outside of an immediate family.
- The bodily fluids exchanged by husband and wife during marriage covenant renewal ceremonies—sex—also potentially expose other covenant members. A spouse’s reproductive fluids do not belong outside the boundaries of the marriage relationship. Married couples must carefully order their lives so that the exchanges of their bodies are for themselves alone.
- The Day of Atonement must take place on the 10th day of the seventh month. It is a holy sabbath day for Israel. In addition to the daily forgiveness of sin for all the people—a burnt sacrifice is offered in the morning and evening—God will atone for the sins of the nation once every year until the Messiah comes. When the Messiah comes, He will remove the results of sin forever, and He will assume the role of High Priest forever.
