The majesty and glory of God's sovereign administration of His redemption plan are on display. God runs simultaneous boot camps. He trains Moses and Aaron to lead by speaking and obey His word. He exposes the hard-heartedness of Pharaoh and patiently preserves him for judgment with all of Egypt. He acts and speaks for the benefit of future generations of faith-walkers. He proves that He is faithful and His word is the final authority.
God prepares everyone in this story for the Passover. The Passover is an important picture through which God will confirm Jesus’ identity. Although everyone in this story—except Moses, Aaron, Caleb, and Joshua—will witness God’s word with deaf ears, future generations will learn to believe.
