In today’s reading of Tyndale’s OYCSB (with featured content written by the CBT team),
- God enters into covenant with the nation He promised Abraham. The story of redemption takes another step toward the fulfillment of the Seed promised to Eve. God’s terms for covenant—the law—will preserve a holy people unto the Lord until the coming of the Messiah.
- God demands to be worshiped rightly. He also demands that members of the covenant be honored rightly. The covenant community will be a people of justice, accountability, and provision. Even their land will be holy before the Lord and stewarded specifically for that purpose.
- Although the people are terrified to speak to the Lord directly, God provides Moses as a prophet among them and the Angel to manifest His presence among them.
- Israel will be a people living in God’s blessing if they obey Him.
