In today’s reading of Tyndale’s OYCSB (with featured content written by the CBT team),
- God designed mankind in His image to live in a faith relationship with Him according to His design.
- God created this faith relationship by:
- Giving instructions to obey
- Promises to believe
- And boundaries to trust
- Even though God had commanded Noah to "be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth,"
- And although Noah would have passed this instruction on to the next generations
- Although God provided a promise to never destroy the earth by flood again
- He established a picture of this promise by placing a rainbow in the sky at the conclusion of every rainfall
- The people decide to take on the greatest flood insurance project in human history.
- 10 generations from Noah, God calls Abraham out of a family of idol worshipers to learn to walk with Him by faith.
- Abraham's story teaches us that faith is a process. Scripture does not sanitize his story so we get to see how God responds to him when he obeys by faith and when he schemes according to his own desires.
- AND ...we are introduced to our great High Priest...He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords
