In today’s reading of Tyndale’s OYCSB (with featured content written by the CBT team),
- Two days before the Passover Feast, the religious elite determined not to arrest Jesus during the Passover. They feared the crowds could riot. Jesus, however, knew it was time and told the disciples that He would be handed over to be crucified. Jesus is laying His life down on His own accord.
- Jesus institutes the new sign of the covenant. God’s terms for salvation have always been the shedding of the blood of the innocent on behalf of the guilty.
- Judas has been living in the shadows for a long time, embezzling money and living a double life. He is the one who will betray Jesus and ultimately facilitate the Jews’ early arrest of Jesus. It would have been better for Judas to never have been born.
