In today's episode Carol speaks to Vanessa Forero about the Raise Word ADVENTURE.
Vanessa is a British/Columbian composer/producer and singer/songwriter. She's been composing since childhood. Professionally, since 2004, she has been writing film/TV scores and songs for other artists, winning Hollywood awards for ‘best score’, working with the Liverpool Philharmonic, and with broadcasts on major channels on TV and cinema screens across the world. Born in the north of England, was based in London, now scores from her self-build studio up a sacred mountain in Colombia.
For her own records, Forero self-produces, writes, records and performs all the parts, choosing only tribal drums from Colombia instead of drum kits, and churning out a distinctive Indie/Folk style, highly melodic with the fire and guts of her Colombian side. She's played live from BBC radio, to concerts at Abbey Road studio 1, to jungle theatres in Colombia. She's recently been working with renown producers such as Real-World's Richard Blair (Sidestepper) and grammy-award producer Christian Castagno.
Forero is also co-author of the book she wrote about her mother "The Girl With No Name", which became the National Geographic documentary: "Woman Raised By Monkeys", for which Forero scored part of the soundtrack.
With new records in the making, a tour and a sequel book (with potential movie) Vanessa has a lot of offerings to watch out for."
