Sek Mcgora has sat down and recorded an audio book version of Karl Hess' work, "Community Technology". The book was written in 1979 and details Hess' experiences with left-localist projects in an attempt to create a self-sufficient neighborhood community in the D.C. neighborhood of Adams Morgan, as well as his vision of future localist movements and how they could claim and reclaim political power and reshape the political economy. As a side note, it has aged decently well, especially if you have a little imagination.
