Daily Devotion with Pastor Balla – April 24, 2025: Can You Draw Out Leviathan? (Job 41:1–5)
Today’s devotion from Job 41:1–5 (ESV) invites us to consider Leviathan—a creature of untamable power, completely beyond human strength or control. God asks Job, “Can you draw out Leviathan with a fishhook?” (Job 41:1, ESV). The answer is clear: no.
God uses this fearsome sea creature not just to display His creative might, but to show Job—and us—that some things in life are simply beyond our grasp. We can’t leash them. We can’t make peace treaties with them. But God can, because He alone is sovereign.
We all face our own “Leviathans”—trials, anxieties, and forces that defy our ability to manage. But in God’s speech, there is deep reassurance: even Leviathan is not a threat to the Lord. It is His creature. And so are we.
