Description

Scott McConnell was born in Willowra, an aboriginal community about 300km north-west of Alice Springs.

He didn’t learn to read or write until he was in his teens. In fact he was far more comfortable and conversant in the local aboriginal dialect (Walpri) than he was in English.

After working as a ranger and marrying a lady from Chicago, Scott got involved in Territory politics and ran for the seat of Stuart. He won the seat as a member of the Labor party defeating a Minister in the process. However things didn’t go as planned and Scott decided to quit the Labor party and become an independent.

Scott’s connection with first Australians has given him a unique perspective on how the Territory could be governed.

This is Scott’s Territory Story.
