Brian O’Gallagher aka ‘Boggy’ is an enigma.
Born in the UK, Brian’s family moved to Australia in 1960 and he grew up in the Dandenong Ranges of Victoria.
After finishing a degree in pure maths and chemistry at Monash University, Brian became an air traffic controller. He then moved into the public service in Canberra dealing with economic policy.
Brian and his wife then took some time off to drive around Australia, they decided they loved Darwin so much they wanted to come back and live here. That was the early 90s.
Since then, Brian has worked in many senior roles in the public service and in projects including the railway.
Perhaps his best story is that he was with Terry Mills in Japan when Terry was dumped as Chief Minister under the previous CLP government.
Brian is now running as the CLP candidate for Karama in the current Territory election. He shares his story in a disarmingly honest but humorous way.
