Description

Natasha Griggs is the former CLP member for Solomon.

She’s currently serving as Administrator to Christmas Island as well as the Cocos and Keeling Islands.

Born in Adelaide and raised in Alice Springs, Natasha is a true blue (in every sense of the word) Territorian.

After finishing her studies in Alice Springs, Natasha moved to Darwin and completed a degree in information technology at the then Northern Territory University.

She spent a number of years working in the IT industry before entering politics first as an Alderman for the City of Palmerston and the Federal Parliament.

She was there for two terms between 2010-2016 and she unselfishly shares her experience of the commotion in the Liberal Party between the leadership of Tony Abbott and Malcolm Turnbull.

But perhaps the most interesting part of her story is her description of life of Christmas Island, a little dot 3.5 hours flying time from Perth but only 45 minutes from Jakarta. Historically connected to Singapore the island is administered by the Commonwealth as an external territory.

Natasha talks about her role as Administrator and the quirky aspects of Island life like the migration of the red crabs and vegetables costing more than alcohol.
