Robyn Connell and Jingman Yang could not have come from more different backgrounds but here they are in the Territory, working together to give overseas students the opportunity to gain valuable work experience with local businesses.
Born and raised in Melbourne, Robyn left school and joined Ansett, first in administration, then as a Flight Attendant.
She flew domestically for several years before transferring from the air to the ground working locally at Darwin airport.
After the collapse of Ansett in 2001, Robyn joined Charles Darwin University (CDU) becoming their International Marketing Manager before leaving seven years later to join Jetstar.
In 2017, Robyn joined Navitas Professional and she is now Teritory Operations Manager. Navitas offers a professional year program for international students studying accounting, engineering and IT.
Jingman was born in the province of Sichuan in China, but her family moved to Shenzhen when she was little.
After finishing school, Jingman moved to Paris to study fashion. There she learned to speak French and English (with a French accent).
Her best friend lived in Darwin and she felt drawn to Australia so after returning from Paris, Jingman enrolled to study a Masters in Accounting at Charles Darwin University.
After graduating, Jingman worked in various roles before she secured a position as an Industry Placement Consultant with Navitas Professional. In this role she helps overseas students gain valuable practical experience through work placements with local businesses in the Territory.
