Giovanna Webb was born and raised in Colombia.

After finishing studies in veterinary science and animal husbandry she began working with reptiles including a stint in the Amazon.

She has a particular interest in crocodiles and it was through her work that she met Darwin’s own Crocodile Dundee, Professor Grahame Webb, who runs the Crocodylus Park. Not knowing a word of English, Giovanna moved to Darwin and started a new life here in crocodile conservation.

She recounts stories of wading chest deep in crocodile infested waters to harvest eggs. She also talks about getting involved in Territory politics and running for office.

Giovanna now works at the Northern Territory division of the Minerals Council of Australia. She was also recently appointed the Northern Territory’s first Honourary Counsul for Colombia.
