Description

Karen Green started from humble beginnings. Born in Donnybrook in Western Australia to a farming family, her parents moved to the little town of Beacon (population 160) on the frontier of the wheatbelt, where they ran sheep and grew wheat.

At the age of 12 she was shipped off to boarding school in Northam and then went on to study accounting at Curtin University.

After a brief stint with an accounting firm in the Perth CBD, Karen was transferred to their Port Hedland office where she was put in charge after only six months when her manager decided he’d head off.

Karen and her husband eventually decided to move further north and came to Darwin in the early nineties where she joined PKF and then Deloitte.

Karen was a Partner at Deloitte in Darwin for over 20 years and was one of only five female Partners in the whole of Australia when she was promoted in the late nineties.

She recently retired from the partnership and has started her own consultancy. She also serves on a number of boards. She’s also an avid water skier.

This is Karen’s Territory Story.
