Tina MacFarlane comes from a farming family in central New South Wales. The youngest of four children she was an adventurer from a young age.
After finishing agricultural school she and a girlfriend drove around Australia and got stuck in Katherine when her car broke down. That began her lover affair with the Territory. She finished her tour of Australia and at the first available opportunity came back to the Territory as a young 21 year old. Taking a job on a cattle farm she met her future husband, Lindsay. They have a daughter, Skye, who was schooled on Katherine School of the Air. Skye has gone on to become a Structural Engineer and works in Darwin.
Tina became interested in politics in the mid 2000s and joined the CLP. She helped out in elections before running for the Federal seat of Lingiari on two occasions but was unsuccessful in trying to unseat incumbent, Warren Snowden, although she came very close.
She was preselected by the CLP for the seat of Solomon in 2021 and is now campaigning to unseat Labor incumbent, Luke Gosling. Tina shares her story and her reasons for why she wants to be the Member for Solomon.
