Emanuel Masimo is a lawyer at Ward Keller practising in commercial law, estate planning and migration.
Born in what is now South Sudan in 1999, Emanuel's family fled to Kenya as refugees as the country descended into civil war. They eventually migrated to Darwin in 2005 and he grew up in Karama, playing soccer and going to school. He eventually fell into law when his teacher encouraged him to 'put something down' on the university entrance form.
Emanuel talks about growing up in Darwin coming from an African refugee background and discusses issues like racism, sports, school and the difference between assimilation in Darwin compared to other cities in Australia.
This is Emanuel's Territory Story.
