Christopher Walsh is originally from Halifax, Canada; probably as far away from Darwin as you could get.
After meeting a girl from Darwin in Calgary, Canada, Chris came to Darwin in 2014 so she could show him her home town. As a journalist he thought it would be interesting to drop in and have a chat with the NT News. An hour and a half later, he was offered a job.
Fast forward six years and Chris is now married, a father and editor of a new online newspaper called the Northern Territory Independent. Backed by Owen Pike, the NT Independent is an online paper that is seeking to make a difference to the type of coverage Territorians are getting. In an election year, this will be interesting.
This is Chris’s story and he is joined by Owen Pike to talk about the newspaper and NT politics.
