Description

Senator Sam McMahon is one of two senators representing the Northern Territory in Canberra.

Born in Sydney and raised in Queensland, Sam (as she is known) knew she wanted to be a veterinarian from a very young age.

A very dogged and determined individual, Sam achieved top marks in high school and went on to study veterinary science at the University of Queensland. However it was a summer stint on a cattle station in the Northern Territory that sealed her fate.

She moved to the NT after finishing her studies and has run a number of veterinary businesses including winning Telstra Business of the Year.

When a senate seat became vacant, Sam was preselected by the Country Liberal party. She won the seat in the last Federal election and has been a senator for just over a year.

This is Sam’s Territory story.
