Meet Jill Harrison, of Philadelphia, who I have been blessed to know for many years: from performing alongside her, to being in shows choreographed by her, to watching her directing projects and witnessing the abundance she has welcomed into her life. Jill is a connector, director, mother, friend, supporter, advocate, professor, and so much more. She is the founder of Directors Gathering, which “builds a consistent community for regional theatre directors. We offer member directors resources of connectivity, development, and elevation to hone their art.” (from their website).
Jill has such a way with words. I so loved hearing how she talked about various topics--be it the arts community or current events or anything in between. She brings up vulnerability and strength and how she is intrigued by the dichotomy between the two. She recalls this past year’s humanity and kindness through her surroundings in Philadelphia and beyond. She gives a window into her role of mother and wife, virtual learning, teaching, interacting, and her 6 ¾-year-old Stella’s growing up in this ever-changing world.
Community: Jill keeps coming back to that word. With DG, Jill is creating a space for directors to grow, expanding nationwide (actually worldwide), and building a network of artists. Link for the upcoming event below.
