Christopher Nolan writes, directs and produces this thriller of a biopic that is based on the 2005 novel, “American Prometheus” by Kai Bird & Martin J. Sherwin. The film has a stacked cast that include Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Florence Pugh, Robert Downey Jr., Kenneth Branagh, Casey Afleck, Rami Malek, Josh Harnett & Gary Oldman. In this film, Oppenheimer is chosen to lead the “Manhattan Project” in 1942 during WWII, which results in the creation of the first Hydrogen Bomb but the outcome of this project doesn’t have the effect on the world that Oppenheimer had imagined. This film exceeded all expectations as it became the 3rd highest grossing movie of 2023 and received 13 Academy Awards nominations including Best Picture. This will be the second film for Nolan that earned a Best Director nomination after 2017’s “Dunkirk” and the 4th film he directed that was nominated for Best Picture.
