The first film in this trilogy was directed by Antoine Fuqua and is loosely based on the 1980s TV series of the same name. The film stars Denzel Washington as the titular character alongside Marton Csokas, Chloe Grace Moretz, David Harbour, Melissa Leo & Bill Pullman. In this film, a retired CIA operative helps a young girl from the Russian mob and sets off a chain reaction into the world of police corruption & human trafficking. This the second film that had Fuqua directing and Denzel starring after their successful & award winning film, “Training Day” in 2001.
