Antoine Fuqua returns to direct this sequel to his 2014 first film. Also returning is Denzel Washington, who once again plays Robert McCall, a former CIA agent who is now retired but still helps out those who need it. The only characters from the first to reruns and join Denzel are Melissa Leo & Bull Pullman. Newcomers include Pedro Pascal, Ashton Sanders & Orson Bean. In this film, after a close friend of McCall is murdered, he must once again return to his “job” and solve his friend’s murder and goes after the killer in his own way. This film marks the 3rd film that bought Fuqua & Washington together after the previous film, 2001’s “Training Day” & the 2017 remake of “The Magnificent Seven”. Sadly, this would mark the last film for Orson Beam before his untimely death in 2020.
