Joining me today is the author of the book Discovering Your Identity: A Rebirth from Interracial Struggle to discuss their own struggle with identity as a Bengali woman born and raised in Italy and now living in Montreal, Canada. Urmi shares openly about the back and forth between preserving heritage and culture while still embracing our individual character and lifestyle choices. We also talk about the difficulty in finding the right career and facing rejection while seeking new roles or fresh starts in life.
Urmi was blessed in life to have mentors that became such amazing friends she now calls them "friend-tors". Their positive impact inspired her to write her story and create a community where other women that struggle with identity or a sense of belonging can come together to find themselves and find their own friend-tors.
Urmi Hossain is a full-time female worker in the financial services industry. She has been working in this industry for about six years and she comes from an educational background in Finance. She is currently pursuing her CFA designation. In her free time, she volunteers for causes such as women's empowerment and giving back to the non-privileged. She is a big proponent of self-investing and continuous learning. Ambitious and Go-Getter are the two words that describe her the most. Indeed, one of her big ambitious goals is to deliver a TED Talk. Some fun facts: She loves eating pasta and practicing Muay Thai.
