On the feast of the Canonization of St. Herman of Alaska and the translation of his relics, Fr. Matthew Howell preaches about St. Herman. He gives context for the harshness of the environments, circumstances and oppression and persecution that St. Herman faced and the arduousness of his lifestyle. Yet in spite of these difficulties, St. Herman was able to shine the light of Christ on the Alaska Natives and lead them closer to God. Fr. Matthew's main point is that when we love God above all else and follow His holy will, then God will also give us the strength to accomplish that which seems impossible.
