In 2008, the lives of Karlie Pearce-Stevenson and her two-year-old daughter, Khandalyce Pearce, took a harrowing turn when they abruptly departed from their home in Alice Springs, Northern Territory. Accompanied by Karlie's new boyfriend, Daniel Holdom, the sudden departure left Karlie's family in disbelief.

Just weeks after leaving Alice Springs in pursuit of a new beginning, Karlie fell victim to a heinous crime. She was sexually assaulted and murdered by Holdom, who callously disposed of her body in the notorious Belanglo State Forest. Shockingly, Khandalyce met the same fate at the hands of Holdom only four days later.
