Ovis Mangum was born in Norfolk, VA. He graduated Cum Laude from Elizabethtown College with a BS in Human Services. He worked for 37 years at Norfolk Southern Corporation in the Human Resources Department, and retired in 2017.
After retiring, he studied acting at Donna Belajac Casting. He did print ads and commercials for Sheetz, and played a doctor for a Connective Rx commercial. He was also in theater in a play called “Beyond the Man Cave.”
Since then Ovis has been in the following movies: “Escape at Dannemora,” “Happiest Season,” “Manhunt,” “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” and “Sweet Girl.”
He is currently working on “Rust,” starring Jeff Daniels and the upcoming play, “Shawshank Redemption,” presented by The Griot Theater Group. He is also booked in an untitled Netflix Feature Film in Cleveland, OH, where he’ll be dancing.
