05.19.2018 Casa Árabe organized this session on the “Path and Construction of Subcultures in Night Life,” given by two Palestinian women, as part of the Third NIX Event: Night Session.
We begun the session with a screening of the work Memory of the Land, by Palestinian artist Samira Badrán, whose work explores the body’s relationship with the land in the specific case of Palestine, where the limitations on people’s movement and transit have been highlighted by many creators today.
Then we got a close look at the work by Sama Abdulhadi, a well-known DJ and electronic music producer who is a pioneering figure in Palestine. She spoke to us about her career and projects in Ramallah, as well as other Palestinian and European cities. Talking with her was Maria Taosa, who hosts the radio program Siglo 21 on Radio3, and Raúl Travé, a doctor of Social Anthropology with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism. The event was presented and moderated by Nuria Medina, Casa Árabe’s Culture Coordinator
The day ended with a short performance of live music mixed by Sama Abdulhadi.
