Payton is the winner of the 2023 Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Lead Performer in a Musical in as “Celie” in “The Color Purple.” She talks with the guys about her upcoming show, “That’s What Friends Are For: Nova Y. Payton sings Burt Bacharach” opening January 16 and running through February 4, 2024 at the Signature Theatre.
